Most candidates have difficulty completing the IELTS Writing Task 2 essay on time. However, candidates seeking higher band scores, say, 7 and above, should plan to write a conclusion paragraph that includes not just a Restatement of the Thesis but a true concluding sentence as well.

The purpose of the conclusion sentence is to leave the reader with one more idea, to round out the discussion and bring it to a satisfying end. Often, the sentence can unify the essay by returning to an early idea, perhaps even the one in the Hook, and ending on it.

The concluding sentence should not, however, contain a main idea or, worse, a strong opinion. It is merely supposed to leave the reader with one last, light thought to consider. So, if you write a concluding sentence, make it a suggestion, a recommendation or a prediction. And keep the language light and speculative.

For example, if you had written an Opinion Essay on the subject of mandatory retirement, and you had written that you were against it because it was harmful to companies, workers, and workers’ families, you would not want to conclude with yet another opinion. In other words, do not end with an even stronger opinion, such as: “The government must change its policy of mandatory retirement before more economic damage is done.” That’s far too strong for a conclusion. Instead, consider these kinds of concluding statements:

- Recommendation: “Because people are able to work effectively longer today, perhaps the government might reconsider its policy.”

- Suggestion: “Because costs of living are going up and people need to work beyond retirement age, it would be in the interest of the economy that the government rethink its retirement policies.”

- Prediction: “If the government reviewed its policies about mandatory retirement, some able-bodied workers might be able to work beyond retirement age, to the benefit of everyone.”

Notice that none of the statements tells the government what to do. They just propose a reconsideration of the policy. Also, notice that the prediction statement does not say what will happen, which is a different kind of prediction, but what might or could result. It’s also helpful to include words like perhaps and maybe, to reinforce the idea that statement that the statements are conditional, that is, that they merely note possibilities, rather than things that must or will occur.

Copywriting for the web is a very interesting and challenging job. The copy you write can be read by millions of people. This adds to the over all thrill of creating some piece of art. If you want to be a copy writer for the web, you should follow a step by step approach. First of all, you need to know your self. Do you have this talent? If you feel that you can be good at writing for the web, you move to the next step. Judge your self critically.

You must know your strengths and weaknesses as a writer. Some of the people are good at creating fantasies while others are better explaining scientific theories to others. Find the dimensions in which you think you can excell. Having done that you need to find the options to write. There are many ways of doing it. Search the web for paid copywriting jobs. There are literally thousands of those. You can find few platforms which can offer you such jobs. Find the plat forms and choose those which you think are the most authentic ones.

These platforms will help you in finding some copywriting assignments for your self. After this, once you have the assignments, you actually start off with creative writing. Be sure that you know the requirements of the assignments. Some of the copywriting for the web is SEO oriented. Other options are of writing articles or blogs. Discuss the specifications in detail with your client. Note the word count. Start planning your copy. List down the points you want to discuss in your copy. Jolt them down. The final step is to expand those points into paragraphs while using a reasonably good selection of words.

Do you want to learn more about how I do it? I have just completed my brand new guide to article marketing success, ‘Your Article Writing and Promotion Guide‘

Never spend weeks, months, or years trying to sit down and write your
own (quality) information product when you can just hire a
ghostwriter! Believe me, that’s what the pros are doing.
It’s time for you to start learn how to use them too.

As a successful entrepreneur it is essential that you communicate
with other people. The written word is one form of communication
which will always be relevant. Without good, concise and clear
communication you could go broke.

Your customers won’t know who you are, your suppliers won’t
know what you need, your employees will remain clueless and
your partners won’t know what you are talking about.

Chances are you are pretty good, perhaps even excellent at spoken
communication. And you’re probably also good at writing short
factual written statements like e-mails or quick little short
business letters.

But the longer forms of writing can be arduous and difficult.
If, for example, you have to come up with a major business plans
or create an in depth website, it could take weeks or even days
if not just major portion of your day. And if you have a sales
presentation or a series of Ebooks you want to distribute, you may
benefit from the services of a so-called “ghost writer” or
“ghostwriter”.

“When something can be read without effort, then great effort has
gone into its writing. ”
- Enrique Jardiel Poncela

Ghostwriters will help you with materials you have in development
or they can help you with crafting material from scratch.
Ghostwriters can help you write fiction or non fiction; they can
even help you with every day business communications, though
this may not be cost effective.

Wait a minute. Isn’t this cheating? Yes I heard that voice in my
head the first time I thought about hiring a ghostwriter. Well if
we were still in school and we were hiring someone to write your
homework or term paper then, yeah, it would be cheating. But this
is the business world.

Think about it like this. Have you ever hired an ad agency? Have you
ever placed an ad in the local papers or put an ad in the yellow
pages? Then more than likely you were assisted by a ghostwriter.
These are professionals who are experts at writing copy.
Hiring ghostwriters is done all the time and it is completely
ethical.

Do you take your car to a mechanic to get it fixed? Have you ever
hired the local teenager to shovel your snow or cut your grass?

In fact there is no difference between hiring someone to write an
article or book for you anymore than there is in going to the barber,
hairdresser or getting your nails done. You will look more
professional,
you will save more time than if you tried to do it yourself.

OK . . . Brace yourself. Here are 4 Ways you can use Ghostwriters to
immediately create profits in your business.

1. Ebooks: By far and away this is where most people commonly
use ghostwriters today. Now that the Ebook or electronic book is
here to stay, it is unnecessary for most would be authors
or entrepreneurs to use traditional publishers. Ebooks have
a variety of applications.

– The direct sale of information

– Promotion of business or services

– Building of brand awareness
Ebooks can be simple Word Documents of a few dozen pages or
can be large Adobe files complete with pictures and hyperlinks to
pertinent web sites.

Marketing materials: When published with a byline, any form of
written word can be published with the use of a ghostwriter.

– Direct mail for delivery in the postal mail system

– Email letters or newsletters (a.k.a. Ezines)

– Sales pages in the form of letters or web pages

– Introducing new products or promotions

– News releases or press releases to media outlets

– Auction listings

– Product endorsements or referrals.
Typically materials such as these are not written by the
“author” but by the ghostwriter instead.

Articles for publication: One great vehicle for communication is to
publish articles in pertinent magazines online or in print or
elsewhere. More often than not, someone has a great deal of
expertise in a subject yet are not capable of communicating
via the written word successfully.

Creating a compelling read is difficult to attain in many articles
about legal, medical or technical matters. When you hire a ghostwriter,
it is easy to be a celebrity in print.

Traditional manuscripts or screenplays: Ever have an idea for a
novel or a movie? Ghostwriters will help you flesh it out,
give it some life or just plain “punch it out”. If you take your
notes or a few chapters to the ghostwriter, you can get a
great book written in half the time and with more relevance than
doing it yourself.

Where do you find a ghostwriters and how do you know which ones are
good? Look for more articles on this site.

Online article marketers need to always be thinking of which articles to write to continue to get the targeted traffic that they desire. Thus picking new topics is a key to the success in article authoring and online article marketing. So, how can you continually come up with unique and interesting topics to write about? And better yet topics that will attract your targeted traffic, which should be your primary goal?

Well, consider if you will a couple of tactics, first take all the buzzwords in your industry and write them down. Then consider all these words translated into normal speech used by average folks in society and then start putting together combinations with adjectives in between and see if this helps you make topics.

Next take the questions you most often get from customers or that people ask and make those questions into titles, also use the buzzwords and pose them as questions. Such as what is a _ _ _ _ _ . Picking Article Topics does not have to be difficult at all and you should be able to put together 10-20 new Titles and topics for your next batch of articles without too much trouble simply using these simple ideas.

So, I tell you what; go ahead and do that now and commit yourself to writing one article a day for two weeks until you finish all those titles you just wrote down and see how much new targeted traffic this brings you and the synergy it brings. Consider this in 2006.

The Hero’s Journey is the template upon which the vast majority of successful stories and Hollywood blockbusters are based upon – understanding this template is a priority for story or screenwriters.

The Hero’s Journey:

·	Attempts to tap into unconscious expectations the audience has regarding what a story is and how it should be told.

·	Gives the writer more structural elements than simply three or four acts, plot points, mid point and so on.

·	Interpreted metaphorically, laterally and symbolically, allows an infinite number of varied stories to be created.

The Hero’s Journey is also a study of repeating patterns in successful stories and screenplays. It is compelling that screenwriters have a higher probability of producing quality work when they mirror the recurring patterns found in successful screenplays.

Shape Shifter Functions

The Shape Shifter is an essential archetype that appears in none out of ten successful Hollywood stories. The Shape Shifter switches from good to bad or bad to good. This character has a number of functions including:

a)	To compete for the hero role. In Star Wars (1977), Han Solo is a viable hero.

b)	To compete with the hero for his romantic challenge. In Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981) Bellow buys Marion a dress and shares a bottle of wine. In The Matrix (1999), Cypher tells Trinity he loved her.

c)	To provide an alternative point of view. In The Matrix (1999), Cypher questions whether taking the other pill wouldn’t have been better – ignorance is bliss.

d)	To challenge the antagonist. In The Incredibles (2004), Mirage contradicts Syndrome.

e)	To assist in the escape from the World of the Sword or the Rebirth Through Death experience. In The Incredibles (2004), Mirage helps The Incredible family return to the Ordinary World.

f)	To pull the hero toward the light or dark side [mentor substitute]. In Lord of War (2005), Vitlay Orlov attempts to convince Yuri away from the Arms Trade.

Nothing can be more terrifying than standing on a stage having to speak in front of a huge audience and going blank in the mind. Proper organization and preparation is required to make sure you do not forget what you have to talk about in front of the aggressive audience. But even after proper preparation people still go through butterflies in the stomach and strong nerves when asked to talk in front of a big crowd. There are some tricks of the trade which seem to work on almost all individuals. Read on to discover how you can be an effective public speaker-

Always be prepared - The moment you get on that stage your audience would know whether you are prepared or not. It all reflects on your body language. Therefore it’s always recommended to make notes in case you go blank in the face due to nerves. Get tuned before hand and practice in front of your friends.

Maintain a constant pace - Some speakers get so nervous that they talk too fast and try to get done with it as soon as possible. Remember one thing it’s not always about what you say but how you say it and present it. You can have one of the best speeches in the world with perfect words and phrases but if your presentation is not right and you rush through your speeches even a perfect speech would seem dull. Therefore maintain a steady constant pace which would be easy to understand for the audience.

Practice practice practice - Practice always makes a man perfect therefore practice your speech before hand as many times as possible. Wherever you are in front of the mirror, in the bathroom, in the car, in front of your friends. Whenever and wherever you get a chance just practice. Remember the more you practice the better you will be eventually.

Be loud and clear - Be loud and clear and pronounce your words right so that it is understandable for the audience. Use short sentences and pause often. Not only does that give you time but also gets you more relaxed which leads to a more productive speech. Learn to build a unique talking style and get the audience interested in you and not your speech. And last but not the least always practice breathing techniques. You need lung power for giving long powerful speeches therefore do breathing exercises by taking long deep breathes.

Any good speaker would talk to the crowd on a personal level and not the crowd as a whole. Therefore it is very important to refer to the crowd as you instead of you all or all you people. Not only would this keep the crowd more attentive but also make them feel as if you are personally talking to them.

FORWARD

The 188 stage Hero’s Journey (Monomyth) is the template upon which the vast majority of successful stories and Hollywood blockbusters are based upon. In fact, ALL of the hundreds of Hollywood movies we have deconstructed (see URL below) are based on this 188 stage template.

Understanding this template is a priority for story or screenwriters. This is the template you must master if you are to succeed in the craft.

[The terminology is most often metaphoric and applies to all successful stories and screenplays, from The Godfather (1972) to Brokeback Mountain (2006) to Annie Hall (1977) to Lord of the Rings (2003) to Drugstore Cowboy (1989) to Thelma and Louise (1991) to Apocaplyse Now (1979)].

THERE IS ONLY ONE STORY

THE 188 STAGE HERO’S JOURNEY:

a) Attempts to tap into unconscious expectations the audience has regarding what a story is and how it should be told.

b) Gives the writer more structural elements than simply three or four acts, plot points, mid point and so on.

c) Gives you a tangible process for building and releasing dissonance (establishing and achieving catharses, of which there are usually four).

d) Tells you what to write. For example, at a certain stage of the story, the focus should be on the Call to Adventure and the micro elements within.

ABRIDGED TIPS, EXCERPTS AND EXAMPLES (188 stages of the Hero’s Journey (Monomyth) you need to know about…):

(simply go to www.clickok.co.uk for full details)

*****Demonstrating the Magical Gift*****

One often missed stage of the Hero’s Journey is the demonstration of the Magical Gift. In the Bond franchise, Q also demonstrates the gadgets. In Star Wars (1977), Ben fires up Luke’s light sabre. In Bonnie and Clyde (1967), Bonnie dares Clyde to use the gun.

***Book of Law***

An Authority Figure will guard the entrance to the Great Cave of the First Threshold and dictate the rules of this New Domain. In Spartacus (1960), this is where Lentulus tells the slaves that they are to become gladiators and that, if they do well, may become free men.

*****First Trial Inner Cave - Inner Challenge*****

A number of things happen in the Inner Cave of the First Trial. One element is the expression of the Inner Challenge. In Bonnie and Clyde (1967), Bonnie complains about Clyde’s lovemaking.

*****Inner Challenge / Inner Cave*****

When you’re writing for the Web, articles are your bread and butter. You need a method to write articles quickly, because your buyers usually want to buy articles in packages of ten or more.

Start by familiarizing yourself with the various article types. Some of the most common are reviews, opinion pieces, tips, tutorials, and definition articles (the facts on a particular topic.)

There’s another category of articles, those based on keywords. With this article type, the purchaser will give you a list of keywords for which he wants you to write articles. This is perhaps the easiest type, because you’re free to write whatever you wish, as long as it makes sense and includes the keywords.

Researching Articles - How To Write About Anything

It’s easy to write articles on topics on which you have a background. It’s much less easy to write with authority on topics in which you have no background at all, however it is possible.

If you were writing for print, you’d need to do a lot of primary research - you would interview people in person, over the phone or via email. When you’re writing for the Web, unless the purchaser is paying print prices, you can rely on secondary sources. If you have no background in a topic at all, leave yourself a couple of hours to research the topic broadly. Use the Web search engines to get an overview of the topic. Visit news sites to get up to date on the topic.

Fast-Writing Tips: Write An Article In 20 Minutes Or Less

The ability to write quickly comes with practice. So don’t beat yourself up if your first article takes you two hours. You’ll become faster with each article you write. Eventually you’ll be able to write the first draft of an article of 400 to 500 words in around 20 minutes.

The key is not to spend too long thinking. For a short article you need an Introduction, the Main Body of the article, and a Conclusion. For generations of journalists, this has been boiled down to - “tell them what you’re going to tell them, tell them, and tell them what you told them.”

Your writing process starts with your working title. Keep this title in mind - write it on a sticky note and paste it on your monitor: “Top Five Weight Loss Diets”, “Should You Install Windows Vista?”, or “How To House-Train Your Puppy.” Your working title keeps you on track.

Now make a list of three points you want to cover in the article.

Write your introduction, mentioning the three points. Cover the three points. Wrap up the article’s conclusion by referring to your introduction. That’s it. You’re done.

Leave your first draft for a day if you can, to get some distance from it. If that’s not possible, leave it for an hour. When you come back, you can do a revision of the article. You may change it a little or a lot - that depends on the article. I tend to write long, so in my revision I trim excess sentences and words.

Over time, you’ll become very fast at writing articles, because your Web writing muscles will build over time. The ability to write articles on demand is a very valuable skill online. The more proficient you are, the more your Web writing income will rise.

An article is a short manuscript on any topic. If you are online since
a while, you might have seen many ezines with these kind of articles.

Authors write the articles and submit them to ezines and content
publishing web sites. So what is the purpose of writing articles?

Glad…You asked…

NUMBER 1. reason to write articles is FREE ADVERTISING:

Don’t you love that word- ‘Fr*ee’. You will get lot of fr*ee advertising
with ezine articles. You wrote an article and submitted to a content
web site. Ezine publishers constantly searching for good articles for their
subscribers.

If an ezine publisher with a good mailing list, publishes your article in
his ezine, guess how much exposure would that be to your web site or product?

If you constantly doing this process of writing and submitting the articles,
tremendously increase your website traffic.

NUMBER 2. reason to write articles is TARGETED ADVERTISING:

I am sure you will agree with me when I say ‘100 people who are interested
in your product are far better than 1000 people from the general public’.

You will make more sales with the first group. Because it will be easy to
motivate them to make a sale.So articles exposed to a group of people
who are interested in your product or web site topic brings you lot of
benefits.

How to get this targeted advertising?

After writing an article, submit to ezines that are focused on your
web site topic. When you write article on ‘How to get good ranking on
Google search engine’, you can submit your article to ezines that are
focused on webmasters and website promotion.

With out you knowing ezine publishers from the ezines (like above that are
focused on website promotion) will be looking for content like your articles.

So all these leads to exposing your article to targeted people.

NUMBER 3. reason to write articles is LINK POPULARITY:

This is also obvious. Once your article published with content websites or
ezines that also have online versions, your web site link popularity increases.

Ofcourse you have to remember few things:

**Don’t forget to keep your resource box with your web site link.

**Just your email in your resource box won’t increase your link popularity.

**If you want to put affiliate links in the resource box, use some redirect
method. In this case the URL starts with your website.
Example: Instead of
youraffiliatesite.com/your affiliateID,
you can keep like-yoursite.com/affiliateproduct.htm.
This will redirect the visitor to your affiliate site.

Good luck with your articles.Still reading this? I thought you are writing
your article…

New Authors, contracts, and Publishing:

Many new authors sign a contract with a publisher without reading it thoroughly. The excitement of being published for the first time is so overwhelming that they ignore the fact that they are signing a binding contract. Later they are shocked that once published they have not become an immediate millionaire. They lose all contact with reality, immediately find fault, and blame with the publisher.

These disappointed authors tend to join various writers boards and then bash their publishers, or complain about the low royalty check they receive. It never occurs to them that the author regardless as to who publishes them always does promotion. Publishers will tend to aid and support any previously famous author who has made money for the publisher, but usually not an unknown.

I think we must all realize that we tend to join various boards as a means of promotion for our book or books. This is a wise decision by all new authors, but some may get carried away by some negative postings of the discontented.

I for one have joined countless boards. From time to time I even forget which ones, and am shocked to read that some are bashing Publish America, a successful publisher in Maryland, who accepts many new authors. Publish America is a print on demand publisher, one of the first, and now followed quite recently by many bigger, well-known publishers. I think that none of us should condemn anyone if by accident or he or she is a member on such a board.

Like all authors and shoppers there are always some things we could complain about. Whether a product we bought in a store or a publisher, we all have some complaints. However, I never forget that Publish America was the only publisher so far that willingly gave me an opportunity to be published. For that, I am eternally grateful. I do mean eternally. Why bash or bite the hand that feeds you? However, there is far more than monetary gains to this business of writing and being recognized.

Having been in the accounting and business world most of my life, I recognize the need for all companies to make a profit to stay in business. How they do that is up to their own ingenious ways and I respect anyone and all who can do this successfully in these difficult times.

I do think that many new authors are a bit naive about business, profits, and bottom lines. This confusion leads to misunderstandings.

The reality is that Publish America and many new publishers are doing so many things right. The publishing business is presently in some change, some due to publishers of print on demand such as Publish America. It is obvious that Publish America is making a profit. I only hope they continue and grow as they are. My advice to all authors is to read your contract carefully before signing and recognize exactly what is expected of you. Do not expect fame and fortune and do not feel cheated when the reality is that it may never come. Don’t bash or blame your publisher.

POD publisher stands for two types of publishers, and is a new expression not used in the same way by all people. Print on demand, and publish on demand. Both are referred to as a POD publisher. The Vanity press is used to recognize publishers who serve authors who wish to self publish. Too many people seem to think this is a negative form of publishing. Why? Some of the most famous writers self-published, a few still self publish as it offers the option of no contract and the freedom to sell or promote their book without any sharing of profits. Before anyone signs with a publisher, they must understand the publishing market and all the options available to them. Then they must consider and understand that various competing publishers will use negative advertising to obtain your business in a very competitive market.

It is all a part of the saying “Buyer Beware.”
